by ye regard of Men; & ye Consideration of some Temporal Advantages; & when these have ye Chief influence upon us; it is easie for any Man to discern in himself for he that will carefully observe himself can hardly be ignorand of the True Spring & Motive of his own actions; but there is one sign, whereby a man may certainly know that his heart is not right towards god, & that is if when these Motives are absent; our Pity & seak for true Religion [dath?] either cease to be sensibly cooled as if Impiety; or popery, or any thing else that is bad; begin to be in fashion if in any of these caces we let fall ye profession of our Religion or [illegible?] ye practice of it this in plain demonstration of ye infinity of our former Piety:
