April, FRIDAY, 10, 1863. The Boat is very Heavy loaded and the soldiers very much crowded som having to sleep on coffins, oats, Corn, & evry description of freight Very pleasant Weather SATURDAY, 11. I mailed a letter to Jane last night at Cairo were we were at 10 p.m. The Wife of Jeff Thompson is a passenger on Boat with us being sent south reach Island No 10 at day light. SUNDAY, 12. We Reached Memphis at 10 oclock A. M, Where I mailed a few lines to Jane. I am Reading the Knight of Gwin by Lever.
