Before Vicksburgh June, TUESDAY, 9, 1863. Sherman Barnes & Joe I forget his Name paid me a visit to day from 9th Iowa Reading Quentin Durward by W. Scoot. the Pickets of 9th Iowa drve in last night extremely warm WEDNESDAY, 10. Made a Report of all Gov Property, Clothing &c &c in our Posession. spent spare time Reading played some with Capt & Smith Very Heavey rain to day THURSDAY, 11. I wrote a letter to Jane and one to George Kerr got orders to move at a moments notice Moved out to the Rear 1/2 mile and Lay down untill Morning
