Camp near Bear Creek Miss,, June, WEDNESDAY 24, 1863. Camped all day 10 miles from Vicksburgh. We lived on Black Berries to day they are very plenty. a very fine farming between the Black and Yazoo Rivers THURSDAY, 25. Camped in a fine agricultural district near the Big Black. Went out Black Berrying to day. I have lived on berries for two days Very Hot weather FRIDAY, 26. Today we moved Camp to a Better position. I wrote 3 letters to day to Jane, Father and David, Recd. a letter from David. Very Hot & sultry
