149 Mississippi River Memphis Feby. 12th, 1865 Sunday The fleet started south this morning, our Boat Magenta took the Hd. Qr Boat in tow. Passed Hellena at 3 oclock P.M. had Preaching in the Cabin by Chaplin Humphrey of 12" Iowa. I wrote a letter to Mr Malcolm McKenzie of Roscoe Ill. Read some of Goldsmith Essays to day, & some papers of a Religious Character. very Cold south wind
