281 on our men, as they say & seem to believe that there is a general Armistice, and I think there is something of that kind as the Rebels are quite quiet on the other side of the river and our Pickets on this side, and firing not allowed. Two Reb officers Came in with a flag of truce had an interview with McAuther & returned He said that they were ordered to cease hostities for the present & they thought the war over
