49 Selma Ala Aug 23d 1865 Wedensday visited the Hospital in which Jas Barr is Steward. it is well Conducted & the Surgen Dr [Murta?] gives Furlough to all there who are unfit for duty for 30 days who desire it. I had a visit from Chaplin Humphrey 12" Iowa. He informed me that in His report He reported the worst Condition of the Regt based on Account of the various abuses such as Service after the war is over also look if Rations [Medium?] &c
