69 Oct 31 Dubuque Co Iowa 1861 Conolel Wood took Command of the Regiment to day. the circumstances was made interesting by the presence of Governor Kirkwood who came on purpose to review the Regiment He is a very plain looking man without any of the assumed dignaty which is so app -arent in nearly all the Civil & Regimental officers I have seen so far
