4 Elliston Miss July 16th 1864 Saturday We marched to Elliston today a distance of 10 miles and camped for the day. No more fighting as the Rebels here doubtless had enough, and don't follow us. I saw James Henderson last night His Regt, and Brigade had a short fight at old Town Cneek. Charging and driving them off from our rear the 2d Brigade of 3 Division was Rear Guiard at that place. I had a good wash off to night & a good supper of black berries. We have to subsist on the country now as our own supplies are gone
