18 Memphis Tennesee July 30th 1864 Saturday I wrote a letter to Father today, and made out the monthly return of celebration for July to be sent to adjs General of the State of Iowa Also made out regular monthly report for July Total Commissioned 2 Sergts 5 Corpls 8 Privates 43 Total = 58. by order of General C.C. Washborne 5 per cent of the Regt. are allowed to go to the Theatres tonight the closing night of the season. I made out passes for A.K. Ketchum Geo. A. Burroughs & R.D. Williams, & in the day time for sergt Hutchins & C. Carrington } the allowance being two from a company per day
