19 Memphis Tennessee July 31st 1864 Sunday We Recd marching orders late last night to move this morning at 6 A.M. our Brigade marched to the Depot of Memphis and Charleston R.R. and took the train from Grand junction passing through Colliersville without stoping. from Grand Junction we switched off onto the Mississippi Central R.R. Riding to Davis Mills where we disembarked & camped for the night 56 miles from Memphis. as Capt Cook is at Collierville Recruiting I am left in Command of the Company
