24 Holly Springs Miss August 5th 1864 Friday I wrote a long letter to Jane today with accounts of our duties & peculiarities of the Citizens of this place. The women are very attentive to their Friends & our prisoners we send them north tomorrow & they are being supplied with many Luxuries by their Lady friends.Very natural & [illegible] for women's virtues shines the brighter in the day of adversity Very pleasant weather today. Heavy Rain last night
