30 Talla Hatchie Miss August 11th. 1864 Thursday Gen Hatch pursued the Rebels beyond Oxford 18 miles distant from Here and was Recalled as there was no large force of the enemy in His front, & there is some Demonstratio being made on our Rear. The Cars now Come to the river & brought a light mail for the Brigade to day. no letter from Home for me yet. I. Mr Hutchins & Baker [Chum?] together in the Ration line. we get splendid green Corn & live very well. We have a very pleasant Camp near a Tributary of the Talla Hatchie
