61 Brownsville Arkansas Sept 11th. 1864 Sunday The march was Resumed this morning at 7 o clock still on the Prairie. The Heat was most intense, and great suffering for want of water and whole Brigades fell out of Ranks; and when we Camped near Brownsville at noon, only 20 of our Regt were Present the entire Division lay panting in the Prairie grass, or hunting water in sink holes. 8 miles traveled to day. I had a wash in the creek near Camp, the first living water for 30 miles. The sick & weakly were sent by Cars to Brownsville
