65 Camp 12th. Iowa near Brownsville Ark. Sept 15th. 1864 Thursday We are waiting for more Transportation as our present train is inadequet to carry suplies for the trip. so we are as it were laid up a few days in the the wilderness, it is a wilderness to us for we get no mail or in fact no news from the outside World. I wrote a long letter to Mrs Henderson this afternoon. I am now out of money, nearly our of paper & stamps. out at the A---, and allmost out of the elbows & I wish we were out of the Wilderness. My gold pen is broke, & I am oblidged to Borrow [this?] one. as I had two shirts I gave one to Wm. Jordan His gave out far from his knapsack
