84 On The March in Missouri October 3d 1864 Monday Gen Price has taken Pilot Knob the terminus of the Iron Mountain R.R., and as we are out of Supplies, we Changed our Course from Pilot Knob to Cape Girardeau the nearest place where we can get Supplies. Marched 18 miles to day passing the Villiage of Green or as the Citizens Call it (Hog eye) and Camping at night on Bear Creek at the Hamlet of Buchanan. Price is Reported to be marching north through the State driving Gen A.J. Smith before Him. He had 8 days the start of us from Little Rock, so we failed to overtake Him
