99 On Missouri River Mo,, October 17th. 1864 Monday Continued Made Rather better time today, and had to march onely 5 miles and had to wait for the Boat 5 hours and then tied up above the Mouth of Osage River within 5 miles of Jefferson City the Capital of the State, and the place of Debarkation for our Division. The Chaplin preached on Sunday evening, and held a pryer meeting to night in the Cabin, and I saw that the Euchre players Stoped thier game out of Respect to the sacredness of the ocasion. Verry hard frosts every night, & tolerably warm days
