A Receipt for a Cough Take a small Bunch of [illegible] the same quantity of penny Rgal and three or four small spriggs of Rue boil'd in a Quart of common ale till reduc'd to a Pint then strain it off and put in it a quarter of a pound of brown Sugar Candy then Simmer it to half a pint stiring it with a Stick of Liquorish. When the Cough is troublesome take about a tea spoonful or the like quantity as often as you please
