Saving...
Wednesday July 19th 1882. It was quite a pleasant day. We walked around town a little and rested and visited there at Melindas In the evening went to church. Thursday July 20th 1882. We started for Delavan at half past six this morning where we arrived at eleven Vene was not expecting us till evening and was not at the depot. We started to walk up and when passing the C&A depot Mr Sanders stopped us and said he had sent a dispatch up for us. We found Will Reed had it at the store and the word was the Edith was very sick indeed. We found Venes family all well and we were all so glad to see each other. As we could not leave town till five oclock we put in the afternoon making calls, saw a few of my friends and started home at five, telegraphed the folks we were coming. Had to wait three hours at Peoria, started from there at half past ten.
