Balsam of Tolix - Miss Mawdesley Take an Ounce of the hard Balsam of Tohi put it into a quart of Spring water and boil it to a Pint - the Balsam will not will not dissolve but the goodness will boil out and strain it whilst hot. put in a quart of Scarlet Strawberries, mash them and let them stand three hours. - Then Strain it and put in two pounds of double refined Sugar beaten fine - let it stand till next day, then boil it to a thick Syrup when cold cork it up close. - It is good for a hoarseness of cold taking a Tea Spoonful of it going to Bed and a little at other times when the cough is troublesome. To prevent a Lamp from Smoaking that is fed with Oil - Soak the Cotton in Vinegar and dry it well before it is used.
