Mary Stewarts Method of washing counterpanes - 
They must be put into Cold water, all the dirty spots well looked over, and soapd and well washed out, and then left in that water for all night - The next day they must be sossed in that water but not wrung but squeezed against the sides of the Tub and that dirty water poured from them. They must then be put in another lather made with cold water and boil'd soap and washed very well with the hands but not with a Jenny - and left in that lather till the next day - when they must be looked over to see if there are no dirty Spots - and they must then be put into perfectly clear cold water and well sossed - and this must be repeated every day till the water is perfectly clear in which
