24 To make Curry Powder (G [Witen?] of [illegible] [illegible] one ounce of Ginger (pulverized) one ounce of black Pepper one ounce of Coriander Seed three ounces of (pale coloured) Turmerick half an ounce of Cayenne Pepper half an ounce of Cardamom Seeds half an ounce of Cuimmin Seeds let each of the above Ingredients be pounded seperately and very fine, dry them well in a Dutch oven then mix them altogether again drying them then put the mixture into a very dry Bottle and cork it down quite tight. when opened let as little atmospheric air [illegible] to the mixture as possible - To cure a Cough ([Wm?] [Gerard?] late of the Navy & who practised as a Surgeon at [Turnham?] Green, Chiswick [left margin] The skin under the shell should be taken away Put a new laid Egg into a Cup and squeeze Lemon Juice over till it is quite covered with the Juice which will dissolve the Shell. then beat it up together with a Tablespoonful of Honey and the same quantity of Old Rum - and take a Teaspoonful frequently or whenever the Cough shall be troublesome - NB mind & take out the skin of this Egg which is in the insides of the Shell - To make the Brown Strengthening Jelly (for the cure of a Cough Two quarts of new Milk, one Calf's Foot, two ounces of Hartshorn Shavings, & two ounces of brown Sugar Candy, put all of these into an earthen pan & bake them six hours in a brisk oven
