Mr. Lascelles' idea of a well formed Pointer. A round but not large Head - wide open nostrils - full staring eyes - thin long ears. a moderate length of neck - shoulders something between upright, & those of a fine shaped Horse - straight short legs. full of bone & sinew - small round feet - deep in the chest - short - backed - strong loined - stern fine & thin & smooth as silk. [crossed out: Mr. Lascelles idea of Wales I think correct-- that it] Wales is a country "where profit is more in request than honor, & where there is more wealth than pleasure, where a man would chuse rather to travel than live, shall find more things to observe than desire, & few persons either to esteem or love-- Sir Wm Temple
