To preserve damsons without Sugar. Gather them when quite dry, put them into Jars and into a cool oven, and let them remain till the Sirup runs from them, - Let them stand in a cool dry place for three days - then pick off all the dry ones from the top, and pour boiling Suet over them - They must be kept in a cool dry place for use. Mrs Topp To Keep nuts. Gather them when perfectly ripe, and quite dry - put them into a heap till they have sweat a little - then put them into Jars with a slate over them, so as to exclude the air, and keep them in the cellar. Mrs. Topp To kill Ticks on Dogs. Rub the dog well with very sour Buttermilk and the ticks will eat of it till they burst - Thomhill Sh: dir: Another Wash the dog all over with soft Soap & water: Thornhill Sh: dir: In both cases: I would recommend leaving the wash upon the dog for a day at least -
