For cleaning Plate 1 oz of Spirits of Wine 1 oz of Spirits of Turpentine 6 Drachms of Quicksilver 1/2 lb of Whitening, powdered very small, add the quicksilver to the Whitening & beat them together a few minutes - then add the other ingredients, & beat them till perfectly dry - which will require three hours - They must be beaten fine enough to pass through a sieve. - keep the plate powder in a glass Bottle corked down very tight, or the Strength will decrease. N.B. First mix the Whitening & Quicksilver Miss Hotran Hope Hab Oct. 21: 1821
