Rub the Opium Tartar bruetic & Syrup together then add the Liquorice and whilst mixing them sprinkle in the Gum. When well mixed divide the mass into Lozenges of ten grains each and dry them gradually in the Air. Colonel Carpes receipt. 40 An Opium plaster put to the face considered the very best cure for the tooth ache - and 40 drops of Camphored Spirits put into Water to wash the mouth with - 41 For an Ear ache & Deafness An Eel boiled to a Jelly and the Oil which comes out droped into the ear cure's it -
