application of the Tourniquet to the arms & legs in order to husband as it were the vital powers by limiting the extent of circulation, this may be tried by applying a ligature of Tape or other substance to the upper arm & thigh if the tourniquet be not available - The favourable symptoms of recovery are restoration of the pulse - returning warmth of the body & sleep - after being refreshed with sleep the recovery being complete a dose of Castor oil may be given. An Arabian receipt - tried with gt success in Bengal in 1847 - A preservative in Fevers - Take one or two drops of Tinct Belladonna in a wine glass of water twice or thrice a day - or put 1/2 dram of the Tinct into a Quart of water - the a dose to a grown person would be a small wine glass full to a young child a dessert spoonful, to an infant a teaspoonful twice a day (Sent by Mr. Villiers thro E.F.L. when children had the scarletina June 1849 -) -
