A Poultice ordered for Dr Willis July 1856 When suffering from abcess forming under his right arm - Take stale bread & break it into pieces about the size of a walnut & pour boiling water on it & place a plate over it - after it has well soaked pour the water from it & mash it with a wooden spoon & then mix linseed meal in it until it becomes a soft paste. Then spread it thickly & smoothly on linen & apply it to the part -
