Saving...
Friday, April 6th, 1883 Rain and sleet this morning from [N.E?] Changed to snow, that melted as it fell, and has been a thoroughly disagreeable day. Attended the session of the Supreme Court at 9 o'clock, and at 11 o'clock made oral argument for a rehearing in the Fountain case- My first appearance before the Supreme Court to make an oral argument. Got along very well. Spoke 25 minutes. After dining at the Ackley house I had talk with Jud Helwick, Paid bill at Ackley House- $4.15, and took afternoon freight for Milton, leaving Davenport at 3:45- Had tedious run, and reached Milton at 6 o'clock, Went up to Pentzer's and took supper with Kate. After supper had a pleasant little visit with the folks. Was introduced to Mrs. Myers, Kates sister. Boarded the regular passenger train at 8:20 and had pleasant little run up to the city- snowing furiously, walked home and found folks well. Looked over mail, which was very important, and went to bed at 11:30. Saturday, April 7th, 1883. A dark, cloudy, drizzling nasty day, Streets and crossings in a horrible condition cleared up a little this eve- Did milking this morning. Came to office and spent forenoon writing important business letters. Went down to Hattie's and had excellent dinner. Worked on business letters till 4 o'clock. Sent to Ott draft for $288.95 and Wolfe notes for $600. also collected for him the balance of the claim against Ed Taylor= $2.50. Got shave and home to supper- Found Mrs. Judge Day here she having come up on the 11:20 train. Did milking and spent the eve pleasantly at home. Lee quite unwell.
