Sunday, April 8th, 1883.Cloudy and cold this morning, but cleared up about noon, and has been quite pleasant. Did milking. Then dressed and attended the Episcopal Church. Walked up the street with Clara Towns, and engaged her for the Episcopal Calico Ball- After excellent dinner, took little walk. Then spent afternoon pleasantly in doors reading "Beauties of Ruskin", Dr. Moon here this eve to see Lee- I came over to the drugstore after supper and got some medicine. Put on old clothes and did milking late. Spent a pleasant eve, visiting with Mrs. Day. A fine night. Monday, April 9th, 1883This is May's 8th Birthday. It has been the first real spring day of the season, bright and quite warm this afternoon. Did the milking, then came to the office, and spent the forenoon writing and running around. Wrote up diary to date, beginning in the new book. Called on L.H. Jackson and we closed up the [earn] promise with the C.B.xQ. RR co. and received our $500.00 After dinner worked in office awhile, Hattie and Edith came in and we had some lemonade at the [Steam?] Bakery. Went up to the engine house of the water works- to see Ira Hally. After supper, did milking and chores- Spent eve pleasantly at home reading Othello- Mrs. Day left this morning. Lee sick. Tuesday, April 10th,1883 We found Old [Jenee?] dead on the hillside this morning, and gave the faithful old fellow decent burial. After morning work, spent forenoon in office. This afternoon I paid Mr. Boal $407.00 bal due on the bond for timber land in the valley, and got a deal for same- Weather warm this forenoon, but got colder and spring wind from West this eve. Did chores and milking, and spent eve at home reading.
