Friday, April 13th, 1883 A fine spring day, Summer heat this afternoon. Did milking and helped Father hitch up the colt "Jim". came over to the office and spent forenoon at work. After dinner made loan of $60 for Hattie on 40 acres of land. Lee executed mortgage to Auntie Walker for land in Kansas today. Spent bal. of afternoon in office and at Recorder's office- Bought new buggy which- After supper, Lee, Geo Day and I hitched up colt "Jack" and drove him around awhile. Did the milking and spent pleasant eve at home reading. Saturday, April 14th, 1883 Weather fine and showery; clear and colder tonight with spring wind in the west- did the milking and came to the office. Spent the forenoon writing business letters. Made loan of $26.75 this afternoon to Tom Cox on Chattel security. Spent afternoon at work in office and running around. Home to supper. Lee did milking, [Ira?] and I walked over to her home with Hattie, who was over to supper- We then attended the "Review Concert" The old man was grand and sublime, but his support was very poor. Home and to bed at 10:30. Sunday, April 15th, 1883 A bright day, but a terribly strong and cool wind from the W. Did milking, and helped with the feeding. Washed and dressed and attended the Unitarian Church. Mr. Clute preached on "The spirit of the New Faith". Home to dinner- and read a sketch of the "Life of Peter Cooper" in the newspaper- at 3p.m. called for Lulu Gorton and we attended "Vespers" at St. Mary's Church, and took a walk afterwards. Made pleasant call upon our return. Iowa and I attended the M.E. Church tonight. Judge Day is with us today.
