Saving...
Monday, April 16th, 1883 A beautiful spring day, with, however, a strong wind in the West. Lee idd the milking this morning, and I came directly to the office. Swept and cleaned up a little, then did morning writing, and made a trip to the Court House- came over after dinner, and completed the collection of Mollie's note from Lucy [Huie]. Went home at 3 o'clock and Lee and I hitched "Charlie" and our colt "Jack" to the buck-board and drove out to the West farm. Found everything in good shape, and the stock looking well. Home by the lower road. After supper, did the milking and spent the evening pleasantly at home- A beautiful night. Tuesday, April 17th, 1883 A fine spring day, but new wind in the east tonight and threatening a storm. Came directly to the office, and spent the forenoon at work therein and running around. Bought note and mortgage on D.R. Pilsbry of C.C. Burnett for which I paid $29.25. After dinner, spent afternoon in the office and at the Court House. After supper, raked off the yard and burned some leaves. Did the milking and read in "Beauties of Ruskin" till bed time. Lee took Mother, Hattie and the baby to the valley today in the buggy. Wednesday, April 18th, 1883 A good spring day, but still cool with spring wind in the E. Came directly to the office and wrote some business letters- retained Geo Boal to help us in the Mills County case, for an agreed compensation of 10% of what we realize on any judgement we may get. Came over after dinner, and wrote to Chas. Home, put on old clothes and trimmed up the raspberry bushes- Did milking and spent the evening pleasantly at home reading "Ruskin"
