Saving...
Thursday, April 19th, 1883 A fine day, and beautiful moonlight night. Came directly to the office this morning and spent the forenoon at work. right after dinner we received a dispatch from Rosebury that Ottoe was sick and coming home tonight. Lee went up to Cedar Falls to meet him. Spent the afternoon at work in the office, and attended a stockholders meeting of the [Miger?] Hill Mining Co. at Baker and Ball's office. Got shave and hair cut. Home and did the milking after supper. Dressed carefilly, called for Clara [Fimms?] and we attended the "Calico Ball" at [Harris?] Hall- The new carpet was down and is splendid to dance on- Had refreshments at Belle Gray Stewart's table- She made me a boquet, which I press herewith. The Ball closed at 11 o'clock. Saw Clara home. Then came on home, and went to bed. It has been a lovely moonlight night. Was introduced to Miss [Freddie?] Rausom at the Ball tonight. Uncle Jacob left on the 8 o'clock train. Friday, April 20th, 1883 A bright day, but cold new wind in the east all day, and threatening a storm. Lee came home with Ott this morning at 7.20 o'clock Ott looking quite bad, and very glad to get home.I did milking and came to the office. Spent the forenoon at work and running around. After dinner walked up to the water works to see Hally. Spent a busy afternoon at working the office at the Court house, our home awhile, where I found Hattie and the baby, and carried the latter over. After supper, while writing, had long and serious talk with Ott. Ioma and I attended card party at Levi Patterson's and had a pleasant time. I was also invited to Clutes this eve.
