Tuesday, April 24th,1883 A bright cold day, with keen north wind. Reached Osceola at 3 A.M. and put up at the Kohler House. Attended court at 9 o'clock. Met Judge Harvey- Also other friends and Stockton Had some sharring in our cases Made chaney a proposition of settlement in the Quincy case-$100 for quit claim deed from us in 2 years of 8% and in pay casts in case below. Spent afternoon in the C.H. and walking about town. Spent eve in Chaney's office drawing a [replication?] in the Deau case- Made arrangements with the landlord of Kohler house to board and lodge at $1.00 per day, Wrote Ott a letter tonight. Wednesday, April 25th, 1883 A fine day pleasant and spring like, spent the day in and about the Court House. This eve we made a stipulation with Joe Mitchell to [refer?] the Deau case to Joe Laws as referee- to bed at 10.30 o'clock. A fine eve,Thursday, April 26th, 1883 A beautiful day, and it has been a busy one. Took 3.32 train west, and stopped at Afton at Madison House, Got a first rate rig at Joe Dropher's and started into the country. Reached Elliott's at 9 o'clock and found the folks all well. Mr Elliott and I then rode over to the farm, and, from there, up to Harrison's. He accompanied us and we went over to our 40 in Sec 32 and talked with Conway in reference to sale Harrison paid me $35 [illegible] and I paid him $12 for 100 posts. Came back to Elliott's and had big dinner. Mr Elliott turned over to me $40 rent paid him by [Johnny?] Headley and his note for $20. I paid him $5 for services and engaged the boys to have the posts over for $2.00 Rode over to the [Harrimen's?] place and
