Sunday, April 29th, 1883 Left Villisca at 6.20 o'clock and reached Glenwood at 8. Went up to Lufkin's and found all the folks well except Charlie, got and man mail matter, and spent forenoon visiting. After dinner, went over to Russell's but Chas and Lu were not at home. Walked about town and met John Frazer and wife Had lunch at Lufkins and spent the eve writing letters. Called on Watkins and made an arrangement with him that our case was not to be called until my return from Kansas. Weather bright and fine this morning but cool and cloudy this eve.Monday, April 30th 1883 Went down to Pacific Junc. on early train. Left there for Learnmonth at 11 o'clock, fare $5.15. Had pleasant run down, and reached Learn month at 5:30 P.M. Had lunch at St. Joe With cousin Dwight at the depot, and his wife in the street buggy. Rode around, and saw the city in the eve, after tea, Mrs. D and I attended the theatre. The Madison Square [Groupe?] played, "Young Mrs Winthrop" and did well. Roomed at cousins Weather cloudy and dismal, with rain this forenoon.Cleared up this eve and is pleasant.Tuesday, May 1st, 1883 The 15th anniversary of my commencing to keep diary! Up and had good breakfast at cousin Dwight's. Took U.P. train and reached Topika at noon. Fare $2.00. Put up at Dutton House and met Will Osmond there.Spent the afternoon in consultation with [Hormel?] Jones and J.D. McFarland in reference to Kansas lands. Took tea with cousin George and spent the eve there. Looked unsuccessfully for Ira. Roomed Dutton House This has been a beautiful spring day-
