Wednesday, May 2nd, 1883 A hot summer day, with strong wind in the South, Visited O.H. Call this morning and had a long talk. Completed arrangement with Jones and McFarland in reference to Clay County lands. Took dinner at cousin George's. Worked till 3.35. Then took train on the Sante Fe road and came up to [Atckinson?]. Got shave and took supper at the depot hotel. Called on Mills and Wells in reference to [Rabe?] note- Wrote letters. Met [Jo?] Francis ex state treasurer on the train. Weather tonight hot and threatening storm.Thursday, May 3rd, 1883 Cost Kan, trip $15.50 Left [Alctison?] at 10.27 and had night run up to Pacific Junc. Came up to Glenwood on a freight. Took breakfast at the Glenwood House. Called at Lufkins. Found that there would be no Court this term. Talked with Watkins, and worked in the offices and writing letters. Called on Mrs [Frozee?], [illegible] Rankin, and Miss Frozee whom I met at Toledo. Took tea at Russell's and left Glenwood at 6.40 for Chariton Weather dark, cloudy, cold and gloomy.Friday, May 4th, 1883 Reached Chariton at 1 o'clock and put up at the Bates House. After breakfast, called on clerk [Loriner?] and paid him $22.55 = 1/2 of court costs and Shff's fees in our Lucas County land cases. Called on Dorsey Mitchell and Col. Dungun. After dinner at the Bates, worked in the offices and wrote letters. Took 4.45 train east and had pleasant run down to Burlington Reached here at 10 oclock and Chas met me at the depot all O.K. Weather cold, dark and gloomy,
