Saturday, May 5th, 1883 A clear bright day, but cold wind in the N. Up and had breakfast at Sunderland's. Spent forenoon in the office with Chas. and running around. Same this afternoon. called on most of the boys. Chas and I spent the evening walking about town and at Miss Lewis. To bed in good time. Sunday, May 6th, 1883 A fine bright spring day, with strong wind in the South. After a late breakfast at Sunderand's Chas and I went down to the office and walked about town awhile and got shaved. After dinner at Sunderland's we went out on South Hill to see the ruins of the recent fire there. Called at [illegible], and the girls accompanied us for a walk on Prospect Hill, Had music and a pleasant call afterwards. Chas came up and we went up to [run?] Lewis' and to bed in good season.Monday, May 7th,1883 Another warm and beautiful spring day. Up at 6 o'clock and went down to depot alone. Got lunch and took morning run for home. At west Liberty-made brief call on A.J. Free. Home at 11.20- and glad to get back again. Found Folks all well and Ottoe improving. After dinner went out to see Joe Huffman about out horses. Which he had penned up, but could do nothing with him. Came over to office and spent afternoon with Ott in going over correspondence and straightening up accounts. After supper, paid Joe Huffman $1.00 to release horses. Came over to town. Wrote same letters and got meat. Reed from Dr. Smith $20.26 today, Threatening rain tonight.
