Monday, May 28th,1883 Raining again this morning and has been a cold, cloudy, and gloomy day. Came to office, and spent forenoon writing and reading. After dinner, brought buggy lines over and got them repaired. Also paid Hugh McGovern for new double buggy harness-$35.00 Attended the opening session of our spring term of Dist. Court. Did some work in Recorder's office. Came to office and worked till 6 o'clock writing letters. Put off Lee's deed for Topeka property. Grandmother, Aunt Mary and Jeff took tea with us. Put on old clothes, and fixed the south line of meadow fence. Did the milking, and spent eve. quietly at home. Tuesday, May 29th, 1883 Sister Hattie had a boy baby born to her at daylight this morning. It has been a bright beautiful day. Came to office and spent forenoon. At work reading writing. Went down to see the new baby. After dinner, went down to the Court House and attended at the calling of the default docket. Took default and judgement in the [Zohn?] case. Spent bal. of the afternoon at the court house and at work in the office. After supper, came over and got a shave. Called for the Misses Lewis and we attended the lecture at the Congregational Church by Rev. W.E. [illegible] on "the Yosemite Valley," It was a fine and scholarly production saw the ladies home and called awhile. Had some good music by Clara. Home at 10 o'clock and went to bed. This has been a fine evening but it is clouding up and threatens rain. Spent $80.20 to Riuggold County to pay for fencing.
