Saturday, June 2nd, 1883 Pleasant this forenoon, but has been a rainy afternoon and evening. Did the milking, then put on old clothes and spent the forenoon at work spading in the garden. Dressed and came to the office after dinner. Spent a busy afternoon, and took in $4 cash. Home to supper. Free took supper with us. Dressed carefully intending to make a call, but it began raining after I got to town and I deferred it. Home, coursed awhile and went to bed. Sunday, June 3rd, 1883 A dark, damp, cold cloudy day except this eve. it cleared up, and gave us a beautiful sunset, and fine evening. Did the milking this morningand spent some time in fixing fences, hogpen [to?]- Dressed and read till dinner. Spent the afternoon quietly at home reading Byron's "Giaour" Edith was over this afternoon and John came over after her. Mother, May, and I attended the Presbyterian Church. Dr. Folsom preached a fair discourse in "Reason in Religion" Home [illegible] Hattie's for Mother and Mary. Went to bed in good season. This has been a fine eve. Monday, June 4th, 1883 A bright and fine day, but terrible rain storm tonight. Came to the office this morning and spent the forenoon at work and running around. This afternoon, spent in office at work. Drew lease for Callies for House property. Home to supper. Put on old clothes and id the milking. God ready for my trip to Des Moines. Got to the depot just in time to escape the rain,which fell on [illegible]. Left the city at 10 o'clock Had negative taken for pictures at Sperry's at noon.
