Saving...
Thursday, June 7th, 1883 Show Day in Iowa City, and it has been a big one. "Coles Mammoth Show" Weather bright and warm. I left Des Moines at mid-night. Home just after sunrise and the morning was lovely. Slept 3 hours. Came over to town and saw show parade. Very good. Spent forenoon and most of afternoon on the streets amid the crowds of people. Was down to Hattie's a shore time and home to supper. Hitched the Phaeton and drove over to town with Iowa. Took Edith a short ride- Home, put on old clothes, and did the milking. Listened to show music and went to bed. Friday, June 8th, 1883 A cloudy and gloomy day with nasty rain nearly all day, cool, damp evening. Came to office and spent the forenoon reading and writing. spent afternoon in office and running around. Collected the[Leitz?] note for Will Whedon, Also closed up the Pilsbry matters with [Stern?] and Willner by taking a due bill for clothing. Was down to the C.H. a short time. Did some printing with stencils. Home to supper, late, dressed came over to town and got shaved. Ott and I spent the evening at Town's Had jolly game of Whist. Home at 11. Saturday, June 9th, 1883 Another rainy and gloomy day. Came to the office and finished up my work of stenciling. Then spent the balance of the forenoon at reading and writing. Home to dinner. Spent the afternoon in the office at work and at the Court House. Home in the house I rented to collier. After supper, dressed carefully and called on Lulu Gorton. Spent a pleasant eve in conversation. Brought Iowa home from Hatties.
