Saving...
Wednesday, June 20th, 1883 Academic Commencement Day. Weather not so fine as yesterday, warmer, cloudy and threatening rain. Came directly to the office and did some work. Witnessed the procession to the Opera House. Divided the forenoon between the office and the Opera House, but heard none of the orations except the valedictory and the Master's oration. Went down to Hattie's a short time. At 2 o'clock I attended the Banquet of the Alumni at Ham's Hall. The Hall was tastefully decorated and the Banquet a success all though the toasts were rather dry. Remained at the offices til 5.30 and took some of my "cabinets" home with me. After supper, put on old clothes, and did milking. We them hitched to the double buggy and a party of us went down to Uncle Jim's to the reception and party although it was raining a little and threatening more. [illegible] Day, Ott, Iowa and I started from home, and stopped and got Lillie Brandon in town. Had good music, a fine supper and splendid time. Although the company was small owing to the bad weather. Weather clear and beautiful when we came home at 3 o'clock. [Bro?] Chas came up from Burlington this morning. Thursday, June 21st, 1883 A cloudy, cool forenoon; bright and warm this afternoon. Up at 6 o'clock and after breakfast took Judge Day and Mary over to the depot. Saw many friends taking their departure home and cam to the office. Spent forenoon at work. After dinner went to bed and slept the entire afternoon. Chas and [Gray?] left on the 3.34 train After supper, worked in the garden & did milking.
