Wednesday, June 27th, 1883 Another bright day, but still cool. A slight sprinkle of rain this eve, and most beautiful perfect rainbow. Did milking and chores this morning. Then came to office spent forenoon at work reading and writing. called on Ada Webb and engaged her company for a drive this eve. After dinner helped put down new carpet in the dining room. Came over and spent afternoon in the office collected the T.J. Caulfield note and loaned $30 to Mrs Ford. Hitched "Charlie" to the Phaeton after supper called for Ada and we had a pleasant ride. Home at 10 o'clock. Thursday, June 28th, 1883 A fine warm day threatening rain tonight. did milking and chores this morning. Then got to work and fave the single buggy harness and old double hardness a good oiling. Spent afternoon at home oiling harness and reading. Our new side board was brought over this afternoon. After supper hauled some hay in the barn out of the door-yard. did chores and milking. Read awhile and went to bed. Friday, June 29th, 1883 The hottest day of the season, 98` at 5 o'clock with hot day wind from the S.W. Did milking and chores. came to town and spent the forenoon in office. Purchased from C. W. Alling representing [Callaghan?] & Co. "Sutherland on Damages" 3 vols he giving me credit for $10 for my "Kent" 4 vols Spent the afternoon in the office writing- Harry Smith over this eve to take measurements for our new summer kitchen. Dressed carefully and spent the eve very pleasantly at Dr Moon's with Miss Belle Morrison. Gave her one of my "Cabinets"
