Saving...
Saturday, June 30th, 1883 A bright hot summer day. Some wind from the east and the dust very bad. Did the milking and chores. Came to the office spent the forenoon reading and running around. After dinner, rode down to the fair grounds on "Nell" and saw the racing including the Roman Chariot Race. The whole thing was a fraud. Rode up town and was at office a short time. Home and rested till supper time. Harry Smith came over start supper and staked off our new summer kitchen. Hitched "John D" to the Phaeton and Iowa and I rode over to town. Made some purchases. Then called at Mrs Gorton's, and spent a pleasant eve. Had some excellent ice-cream. Home at 10 o'clock via Hattie's. Hattie and the children here to tea. Also Mr Free who stayed all night. Sunday, July 1st, 1883 Another bright and very hot day. Mr Free and I took a ride out to the farm this morning, driving "John D" and "Nell". Got some fine wild staw berries on the way out.
