Tuesday, July 24th, 1883 A fine bright day, threatening rain some this eve. We got to work at the hay in good season and topped out the stack we built yesterday. Then began another stack. Got 4 loads in before dinner. Worked hard this afternoon, got in 4 loads. After supper, we hauled up the remaining load. Topped out the stack and put the balance in the barn. This finishes the job in food shape. Making 26 loads or over [20?] tons of hay. Wednesday, July 25th, 1883 A bright and very hot day. Did morning work. Came over to office and spent forenoon straitening up accounts [illegible]. The Christian Chapel people have a picnic in the grove today. Spent the afternoon about home at work assisting laborer in digging the trench for the North wall of the barn. Came over to town on horseback ordered some lines and engaged Clara Town's company for the Episcopal Sociable tonight, Home to supper. Washed and dressed carefully and called for Clara. We attended the sociable at Lou Lynn's new house, and had a very pleasant time.Had some elegant dancing. I called off several setts. Home at midnight. Thursday, July 26th, 1883 Another fine day, but threatening rain tonight. Spent forenoon hard at work doing chores and helping with trenches. After dinner drove big team to the West. farm with Hay wagon. Helped put up hay, and started home with a big load. Got stuck and had to get assistance. Helped finish up the stacking, and home very late 10 o'clock Had some supper, and to bed tired out.
