Monday, July 30th, 1883 A bright cool pleasant day. Little Edith 2 years old. It has been a busy day. Two masons, laborer, and 3 carpenters on hand this morning to work in the new barn. Got them all to work and did chores and milking. Ed McCollister here last night and went home this morning. Spent most of forenoon attending masons. Same after dinner till 4 o'clock, then hitched little team to stone wagon and hauled up 2 loads of rock. Lee 4 loads. After an early supper we hauled up a load a piece. Did chores and milking and spent the evening pleasantly at home. Tuesday, July 31st, 1883 A bright hot day. Did milking and morning work. Then got ready and came over to town. Returned Miss Ada's [gossimer?]. Spent forenoon at work in office writing up [illegible], and at the Court House. Home to dinner. Came over to town directly after dinner and ordered a load of framing timber for the barn. Hitched the little team to the wagon and hauled up 4 load of rock. Did chores after supper 4 men framing barn. Wednesday, August 1st, 1883 Weather much cooler. A fine bright day. Attended mason awhile, then got ready and came over to town. Did some writing in the office, then ordered some framing timber and home to dinner. Got little team up and Lee and I hauled rock all the afternoon and two loads after supper. Did chores and milking, and to bed in good season. Mr Spring of Le Mass began boarding today.
