Saving...
Sunday, August 5th, 1883 A fine, cool and beautiful day. Will and Jake Pentzer came up last night and are with us over Sunday. Did chores and milking this morning and tied our red bull up. Dressed and read in the newspapers till dinner. After dinner, spent a delightful afternoon at home reading and napping. After supper, called in Mrs Gorton and Lulu and spent a pleasant eve in conversation. Home at 11 o'clock and to bed. Monday August 6th, 1883 A beautiful cool morning, but bright and hot this afternoon. Up early and did chores and milking. Six men on hand this morning to raise the new barn. Helped with that awhile. Then drove over to town in the Phaeton with Jake Pentzer. Will went west this morning. Did some writing in the office and ordered some lumber and hardware- Took Jake to the depot. Rode out to Borland's and saw George about buying little red bull. Came back to depot and brought Iowa home who came up on the 11 o'clock train. After dinner, hitched the big team to the stone wagon and took a load of rock out to the west farm. Home in time for supper. Did chores and spent eve at home. Tuesday, August 7th, 1883 Another bright hot day, threatening rain tonight. Dust in roads very deep. Did the chores and helped with the milking. Came to the office and worked till noon. Home to dinner. Hitched up team and loaded on load of rock, which Ott took to the West Farm. Mowed weeds and watered the stock.
