Friday, August 17th, 1883 A bright warm day, one of the hottest of the season. Did milking and chores. Then came to town. Did some writing in the office and took home some purchases. After dinner we boys went to West Farm with both teams. I took balance of roofing out on the big wagon. Brought in two loads of hay. finishing the crop, practically. Home in good season, and put loads in new barn loft after supper. Washed and dressed and spent the eve at Clara Town's. Lucia Cole and W.H.Coff were there and we had a pleasant game of whist. Clara and I victorious. Home at 10 o'clock. Auntie visiting with us today. Saturday, August 18th, 1883 A very warm day, and hot and [oppression?] night. did chores and milking. Then worked around the farm awhile. Came to town and did some writing in the office. Home to dinner. Came over to office at 3 o'clock and spent the afternoon busily closing up accounts. Paid Harry Smith in full up to date $60.75 Also hardware bill, and $10 to painters. Home early. Paid stone [quarryier?]$8.10 Walked over to town after supper and down home with Flora [Wygott?] Home and talked till bedtime in the beautiful moonlight. Charlie McCollister came up to stay all night. A fine eve. Sunday, August 19th, 1883 One of the hottest day of this season, cloudy and threatening rain this afternoon. Much cooler this eve. Did morning work then washed and dressed and spent afternoon reading.After dinner, spent a delightful afternoon reading "Pascarel" Finished it. After supper took a walk down to Robinsons and out to Fletchers.
