Sunday, August 26th, 1883 A fine bright day, with cool and delightful breeze from the N. Did morning work, fixed up the new hog pen and put my pig's therein Spent the forenoon doctoring sick colt while is very bad with the [qumsy?] Auntie Walker, Eugene Hort and wife, and Esther and Willie took dinner with us today, and we had a delightful visit afterwards. After supper put on old clothes and id the chores and milking. Spent pleasant eve reading. Lee went to the valley today in the double buggy Monday, August 27th, 1883 Cloudy this morning, but hot this afternoon and threatening rain tonight. Did morning work then worked at the barnyard fence awhile. Got ready and came over to the office and did some writing. Home and put on old clothes, and went to work again. Came over to the Lumber Yard and ordered some lumber. Spent the afternoon hard at work, building fence, and clearing up around the barns. Did chores and milking. Read awhile and went to bed. Three carpenters at work today on buggy shed. Tuesday, August 28th, 1883 Cloudy and delightfully cool, with a strong breeze in the N. Did some morning work, and fixed the barnyard fence. Came over to office. Did some writing and ordered some lumber. Put on old clothes and worked at barnyard fences. Ott made load of rock to the West Farm this afternoon. At 4 o'clock dressed and came to town. Went up to Mrs Gortons and took tea. A very pleasant little company gathered there. Mr and Mrs [Philnick?], Miss [Anez?] the Misses [Brocket?] Mr Harris and self. Spent pleasant eve- Escorted Miss [Inez?] & cousin home.
