Saving...
Tuesday, September 4th, 1883 A bright fine day, with strong wind in N.W. and dust flying in clouds. Two carpenters and one laborer helping us today to put up old roofing for sheds very hard work, but we got along successfully. Arch's brother Jim here to supper. Also ed MrCollister. Did chores and spent even pleasantly reading in the newspaper and N. American Review. Wednesday, September 5th, 1883 Another bright and hot day, butt cool and pleasant this eve. The carpenters and laborer were on hand this morning but were soon called away to help on Harry Smiths new house in town. I took a load of rock out to the West Farm and got home just at noon. A very dusty trip. Watered the stock after and spent the afternoon writing in the office. Got shaved and Iowa and I took tea at Hatties. I walked up to Millers after supper to see him about digging a well. At 8 o'clock Mrs Gorton called, and she, Iowa and I walked out to Philbricks and spent the eve. Had a quiet and rather dull time. Home at 10 o'clock. Lee and Arch and his brother went up to the State Fair. Also Father. Thursday, September 6th, 1883 Another hot and dry day, but this eve at 7 o'clock a refreshing rain came up from the N.W. and lasted about 2 hours. Did morning work, then took a load of rock out to the West Far. Home at noon. Uncle Jim Stevens and Aunt Ellen were here to dinner. Watered the stock after dinner. Then came over to town and wrote some letters. Did some picking up and did chores after supper.
