Friday, September 7th, 1883 Weather quite warm this forenoon. Cloudy and much cooler this afternoon and tonight. Did morning work, them came over to town with the team and got some lumber and nails. Hauled up two load of "[sholls?] for the carriage house doors. After dinner took Joe Sterrett's tools home. Spent the balance of the afternoon helping the boys put up shed roofing. At home tonight. Saturday, September 9th, 1883 Weather unseasonably cool with keen wind in the N.E. Sun shining brightly all day and quite grateful. Did morning work and helped the boys with the shedding until 11 o'clock. Came over to town, Did some writing and drew deed for Mrs Gorton. Home late to dinner. Came over to town and spent the afternoon at work in the office and writing up a/co. Saw Peter and he said they would begin threshing Monday morning. Home at 4 oclock and picked over the sacks. Did milking and spent eve at home reading Calvin MrCollister, old bachelor son of Gt. Uncle Andrew supprised us by coming in this morning. Also his nephew Will who will board with us. A fine moonlight night. Sunday, September 10th, 1883 Quite a frost this morning, and weather bright and cool. Did morning work. Iowa, Will [illegible] and I went to valley in the buggy. Stopped at Uncle Jim's and took Calvin down with us. Had splendid dinner at Aunt Eve's. Iowa and I went down to [illegible] and got kitchen girl. Stopped at Aunt Lib's and got some melons. Home at sundown. Did usual chores.
